Serial Number Restoration Guide

The Serial Number Restoration Guide provides basic information allowing the novice practitioner to rapidly get started.  The Guide includes information on polishing, recording and casting of serial numbers.  Additionally, topic areas include magnetic particle techniques, chemical etching, electrochemical etching and thermal techniques.  A bibliography, contact information for the ATF National Tracing Center and a Firearms Serial Number Structure Guide are included.  The Firearms Serial Number Structure Guide indicates how many numbers and letters are present in the serial number of various brands and models of firearms.  There are 12 pages of text and 20 pages of the Structure Guide.  The information in this guide was derived from notes taken from a class in Serial Number Restoration given by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
